BA Economics (Hons.) or Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Hons.) course is a three year full time programme of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. It is career originating in nature.



The scope of this course is very wide as it prepares the graduates for a wide variety of careers dealing with the flow of money, from accountant to investment banker, money manager to personal finance consultant. It provides a platform for higher education too like postgraduate degrees in Economics and thus become further eligible for the job of a lecturer/teacher to teach the subject at various levels. Economics graduate can take up research work in various fields of India’s national security problems including the international relations, geostrategic, geopolitical, socio-economic, tactical aspects of planning etc.




The B.A. Economics (Hons.) programme is a degree program that focuses on the systematic study of production, distribution, conservation, allocation of limited resource and economic problem, so that they became competitive professionals and human beings.

The specific objectives of the programme are:-

  • To provide a thorough understanding of economic concepts added with analytical methods of economics.
  • To prepare our graduates for employment and further study as economist.
  • To provide the skills that emphasize quantitative and theoretical aspects of economics.
  • To provide exposure of corporate functioning.



Passed Senior Secondary/ 10 + 2 with 50% marks in aggregate of CBSE or equivalent Board with Mathematics and English as compulsory subject at 10 + 2 level.
