PROGRAMME B.Ed.

 

B.Ed. or Bachelor of Education course is a two year full time programme of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. It is career originating in nature.

 

OVERVIEW

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is a professional course which develops the teaching skills in the learners and grooms their personalities as efficient teachers. This course lays the foundation of teaching aptitude. Successful completion of this course enables the perspective teachers to join teaching profession in eminent institutes where they are responsible for catering knowledge among students and young learners in a strategic manner. It is teachers who alone can contribute and build a healthy academic system for a nation to grow. The primary aim to take up a B.Ed. course is to learn the art of teaching. Many of us own a wealth of knowledge but to extend or distribute the same to young learners is the challenge. To pass on knowledge from one individual teacher to a class of students is not easy.

 

OBJECTIVE

 

The specific objectives of the programme are:-

  • To prepare dedicated teachers.
  • To adopt modern techniques for teaching skill development.
  • To train every student teacher towards achieving excellence on academic, social, mental, physical, moral, and cultural fronts.
  • To provide opportunities to enhance their competence and knowledge construction abilities in creating positive learning atmosphere in schools.

 

RESOURCE CENTRES

1. Information Communication Technology Resource Centre

The use of ICT in education adds value to teaching and learning by enhancing the effectiveness of learning. It adds a dimension to learning that was not available earlier. Being aware of the fact, Kasturi Ram College provides the best infrastructure and conducive environment for the learners. The college has well established Information Communication Technology resource centre with latest operating and application software with internet facility. The resource centre is also equipped with smart board, projectors, educational CD/DVDs and audible course content.

2. Mathematics Resource Centre

To assist the mathematics’ students, the college has well equipped Mathematics Resource Centre. 3D models, charts, kits, geo boards and mathematical geometrical instrument box are provided to facilitate the learning.

3. Social Science Resource Centre

Teaching Aids help in illustrating the concepts, keeping this in mind the Social Science Resource Centre is equipped with the 3D models and charts.

4. Science Resource Centre

Science is different from other subjects. In order to understand its concepts, one has to look beyond the books and conventional classroom teaching. Effective teaching and learning of science involves seeing, handling, and manipulating real objects and materials. Well established Science Resource Centre with all the necessary equipments is available in the college for the students to conduct the experiments and efficiently learn the concepts.

5. Art & Craft Resource Centre

The idea behind each craft is to work on developing the feelings, thinking and the coordination skills of perspective teachers. To enhance their creativity and the skill of integrating art & craft with education, the College provides the Art & Craft Resource Centre with all the necessary material.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelors Degree and/or in the Masters degree in Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Humanities, Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme. The University shall follow NCTE guidelines/ regulations for the B.Ed. programmes for admissions and implementation.
