MEDIA CONVERGENCE OF NEWSPAPER

Department of Journalism & Mass Communication of Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education organized a Guest Lecture on “Media Convergence of Newspaper” on 19th August, 2016 in college premises for all the students of BJ(MC).

Dr. K.B Asthana, Director of the college warmly welcomed Mr. Pravinder Sharda, Sub-Editor of  Punjab Kesari, Delhi and in his address shared his views about journalism practices in India. Dr. Asthana motivated students towards ethical and balanced journalism.

This session was about Media Convergence and had also focused the various aspects related to industry. Mr. Pravinder Sharda started his session from James Augustus Hicky era, who launched first printed newspaper in India and then came to current scenario. He informed how convergence plays an important role in International media as well as Indian media in context of print media. He also focussed how convergence in media industry becomes necessary for print media for its survival. The session was quite interactive and students were putting forward their queries related to media, its scope & its limitations. Over all it was great learning experience for all.

NEWS MEDIA TRENDS 

Department of Journalism & Mass Communication of Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education organized a one day guest Lecture on “News Media Trends” on 12th September delivered by Mr. Deepak Dobhal, Anchor Rajya Sabha TV.

Dr. K.B. Asthana, Director, KRCHE welcomed the distinguished guest and addressed the students by quoting the main theme of the workshop; “NEWS MEDIA TRENDS”. He also shared his views about current trends in Mass Media. Dr. Gopal Thakur, HOD, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication has paid his regards to Mr. Dobhal by providing a key note address to the esteemed guest as well as the students.

The guest lecture was started with innovative format by introducing the word called NEWS. Students have learnt the word power exercise with Mr. Deepak Dobhal by involving in different speech and voicel modulation activities . He also addressed the students on the resonance of speech science . He also taught about news selection, different beats, current affairs and importance of working environment in today’s era.

The programme concluded by the quote ''A Pen is mightier than a sword''- A journalist should always be an active with his all the senses active to sense the situation and act upon it ''. Mr. Dobhal shared his experience and knowledge with the students as well as the staff members and the students to make this event successful.

WINNING AT THE MARKET PLACE

Department of Management had organized a guest lecture on 21st September 2016 by Prof. Ajay Pandit,  (Former Professor, FMS, Delhi University) on the topic “Winning at the Market Place” for BBA students. Mr. Pandit emphasized on the marketing techniques which are being adopted by the companies for their survival in the present environment. He highlighted the increasing competition and pressure on the companies to perform better. Mr.Pandit gave an example of   marketing techniques used by Reliance Industries to promote JIO.

Students raised their queries which were responded to their satisfaction by Mr. Pandit.The session lasted with a positive note where in students got an opportunity to interface with the current organizational requirements.

Sports Journalism

On 30th January, 2017, a guest lecture on Sports Journalism was organized by the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication in Kasturi Ram college of Higher Education under the guidance of H.O.D, Dr. Gopal Thakur. Ms. Anuradha Tanwar, Anchor of Neo Sports, ETV Network came to deliver the guest lecture and also enlightened the students with her immense knowledge and experience to all the Journalism & Mass Communication students. Her speech and discussion with the students was very illuminating in terms of working in media channels and reporting jobs. She also gave beneficial counseling to the students regarding career in media and how to be successful in this sector.

Students actively participated in this session and cleared all their doubts of journalism field properly. Ms. Anuradha Tanwar, herself is a passed out student of Kasturi Ram college of Higher Education, which is also an interesting factor for students to enjoy the lecture and learned a lot from her. All the faculty members and college administration were also very proud of her that she has achieved a benchmark success in media today.

 Telephone Etiquettes

On Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education organized a short lecture of 1 hour on “Telephone Etiquettes” for all the final year students of the college. The objective of the lecture was to make the students aware about the do’s and don’ts while communicating on telephone.

The lecture started at 10:00 am and was divided into two sessions. The first session speaker Ms. Aakansha Singh Assistant Professor, Management Department informed students about the points to be remembered while answering a call and the tactics to manage the client/customer while answering a call.

The second session speaker Ms. Parul Sharma Assistant Professor, Management Department highlighted the important points while making a call to the client/customer. The session concluded at 11:00 am.
