KRCHE Activities 2016-17


 “Future Orientation is combined with a Notion and Expectation” 

Orientation plays an important role for the new students as it provides the plethora of college   and with such a notion Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education had organized the orientation day on 1st August, 2016 with the prime objective of welcoming the new students for the new session and for introducing them with the course, faculty and rules & regulations of the college. The orientation day was conducted in all the departments. The program initiated with the auspicious event of lamp lighting by our Executive Chairperson Sh. Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal, Director Dr. K. B. Asthana and Principal, Dr. Sonia Anand. The heads of the Departments took the lead to initiate the programme in which the students were informed about the initiatives taken to provide quality education and making a difference, in scholastic as well as co-scholastic activities. Programme Coordinators and faculties of respective departments encouraged the students to participate with full zeal and to be progressive to emerge as a ‘pillar of stability. The programme was concluded by showing the motivational video. Dr. Sonia Anand had provided the best wishes to the new students followed by the showering of blessings by honourable Director Dr. K. B. Asthana through their words of wisdom as well as encouraged students to connect to their roots and give exposure to their views.

The true spirit of patriotism and love for the nation was reflected and filled the climate with true devotion and integrity at Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education on August 12th, 2016. Kasturians celebrated 70th Independence Day with profound gusto, zeal and splendor. The college was embellished with colourful balloons, flowers and flags. The event commenced with the unfurling of the tricolour, by Sh. Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal, the Executive Chairperson, honourable Director, Dr. K. B. Asthana and Dr. Sonia Anand, the Principal. On this auspicious day Director, Dr. K. B. Asthana expressed his views on sovereignty and integrity of country and motivated students towards nation building. The lilt of the national anthem reverberated as the entire Kasturian family paid reverence to the nation. This was followed by a remarkable celebration which began by extending warm welcome to the Honourable members of KRCHE management. Students from Management, Education and Journalism department presented the cultural programmes like patriotic songs, speech, dance, nukkadnatak, and poetry as well as devoted themselves by paying homage to the martyrs of the land. Students also revealed the present challenges the youth is facing to initiate their honest endeavour towards the service of the nation. To sensitize the students about the sacrifices of the freedom fighters the college decided to celebrate ‘Independence Week’ in which college conducted a Debate Competition on the theme ‘Quit India Day’. The Principal Dr. Sonia Anand addressed the students and reminded them about their duties and responsibilities towards the society, nation and as well as the mankind.


“The one exclusive sign of thorough knowledge is the power of teaching”

Teaching is considered as one of the mighty professions that help individuals to shape their career as well as personality. Every year 5th September, the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is celebrated as Teachers’ day.   Good teachers are the treasured rarity, even in the era of technology these jewels cannot be replaced by “Google Guru”. To celebrate this special occasion of the Teacher’s Day students of Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education organised a celebration on 5th September, 2016 in which students presented a splendid culture programme to exhibit their gratitude towards teachers. Students expressed their feelings by self-composed poems and songs, as well as they shared their varied life experiences with their mentors. Students presented the skits scripted by them to pose the importance of Guru in the society. Everyone was overwhelmed when students poured out their emotions. Honourable Director, Dr. K. B. Asthana highlighted the importance of this day and also appreciated the presentations exhibited by the students. The college premises were filled with fragrance of reverence and devotion that touched hearts of their guides and facilitators.


In pursuance of following the tradition of Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education to welcome their entrants with a gala show of fresher’s party was organized on 23rd September, 2016, for the session 2016-17 at Seven Seas Banquet Hall, Rohini, Sector-3. The event started with worshiping the Lord Saraswati by Lamp Lightening by Shri Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal, Executive Chairperson, Director, Dr. K.B Asthana, Principal Dr. Sonia Anand and the respected Chief Guests Mrs.Vidhalal (Renowned Classical Dancer) and Mr. Jai Kumar (North Regional Head- Pantaloons),followed by welcoming the esteemed Chief Guests. Later proceeded to the most awaited event of Mr.&Ms. Fresher. The participants had to go through three rounds i.e. Introduction, Talent and Question-Answer Round to win the title, apart from these there were fascinating performances by the students to showcase their talents. Ms Pallavi Jain of BA (JMC) and Mr.AnmolWadhawan of BBA were given the title of Ms. Fresher and Mr. Fresher. Fresher’s loved the welcome given to them and appreciated the whole-hearted efforts of their seniors and the college.

The audience was kept enthralled for three hours by mind blowing performances of dances and songs. Mouth-watering snacks and delicious lunch added zest to the party. The celebration ended with DJ bash.


“Women Safety and Gender Equality”

The academic endeavour was planned with the motto to showcase the talent and knowledge about social issues, an Intra College Debate Competition was organised on 23rd August, 2016, initiated by Department of Journalism & Mass Communication. The theme of the debate was Women Safety and Gender Equality. The competition was started with the motivational thoughts by Dr. K.B. Asthana, Director, KRCHE. Dr.Chetan Sharma (Associate Professor) and Mr. Ram Kumar, Assistant professor were the judges of the event. Students participated anonymously with complete zest. The objective of selecting this theme was to make students aware about the critical issue of woman safety and gender equality. The debate witnessed distinctive points of different students.


Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, (KRCHE) organized a debate on “Journalism and hash tag (#)” in its premises on 9thSeptember, 2016.Dr. K.B.Asthana, Director KRCHE opened the debate with the remarks on the popularity of hash tag in relation to journalistic practice. The debate was organised to make students aware to control the language of social media so that it cannot harm our traditional journalism.

In this debate students highlighted the various points that Hashtag was first popular on Twitter which popularized its usage among youth. Then Tumbler and Instagram followed the same pattern and now we can see it in every post on facebook.  They further focussed that the hash tag is a searchable word or phrase which can be prefixed as the symbol in any name, phrase or group of words. The students observed each and every aspect of using hashtag in the fast growing industry of digital media. At the end best students were awarded with certificates.


Igniter’s club of KRCHE organized Quiz Competition for BBA and B.COM (H) first year students on 20th September, 2016. Total eight teams participated in the event. The objective if this activity was to develop the interest of students towards current affairs and general knowledge. In total there were three rounds in which questions based on visual aid, identification of identity, identification of company and sports. Students participated with full zeal and zest. At last Dr, K.B. Asthana, Director, KRCHE motivated the students to continue to update their general knowledge and develop a habit of newspaper reading to be in touch of current affairs .Winners and runner ups were awarded with the certificates. Students and Faculty both put forth their views that such activities should be conducted in future too as it was the enriching experience and demand of the era.

Environment plays an important role in everybody’s life but with the development of mankind, human beings have started exploiting the environment for their personal means and today the stage has come when environment is posing threat to the very survival of mankind. To reiterate the importance of environment Department of Management of KRCHE had organized board decoration competition on 16thSeptember, 2016 with a theme “Save Environment”. There were three teams, each team having 5 members in it. Every team followed the theme well and decorated the boards creatively. B.Com (H) first year was awarded first position in the competition and provided with the students were given certificates as a token of appreciation.


Journalism and Mass Communication Department of Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education organised a reporting competition named “Seedha Prasaran” or “Live Reporting” on 7th October, 2016.Dr. K.B Asthana, Director, encouraged students for qualitative and ethical journalism. This event was judged by Dr. Sonia Anand, Principal, KRCHE along with Ms. Parul Sharma, Assistant Professor, and Department of Management. They both appreciated the students for their efforts and great performance in that event.

Students were given on the spot topics for live reporting where one minute time was given for brain storming and two minutes for reporting. This event was done to build the confidence and to bring the spirit of healthy competition among the budding journalists. Jatin Bhutani of BJ(MC) Final year won the first prize in this competition, second prize was given to Madav Jha of second year and third prize was given to Anamika Sharma of BA(JMC) First  year. Students felt motivated for more participation in further events. The programme was concluded by paying gratitude to chief guest and judges. 


 Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, (KRCHE) organized a panel discussion on Perspective of Media Education in India” on October 20th, 2016 in its premises. Dr.Gopal Thakur, HOD Department of Journalism and Mass Communication welcomed students and all the panelist members including Dr. K.B. Asthana, Director. The main focus of this discussion was to aware students about the changing scenario of media education in industry.

The discussion was made on the current situation of Indian media education, Employment, wages in media sector, competing with educational standards and curriculum. All panelists motivated the students for justifying their presentations. Overall it was great experience for all the students. All aspects of Media education were covered in a very delightful manner.


On 13th January, 2017 Lohri celebration was commemorated in the campus of Kasturi Ram college of Higher Education. The Programme was organized to provide the cultural essence to the students. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The function started with speech highlighting the importance of the festival of Lohri. Honourable Dr. K.B. Asthana,Director, KRCHE and Dr. Sonia Anand Principal,enlighten students with their words of wisdom. The Programme was hosted by Sanya Chitkara from Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and coordinated by Ms. Upasana Khurana. The programme initiated with "Lohri Poojan." Director, Principal and all other faculty members along with students worshipped 'Dhooni' and offered groundnuts and sweets to pious agni and the same were also distributed among the students as parsad. At the end Sh. Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal, Chairman, KRCHE congratulated all and dwelled on the importance of such festivals.

 SPARDHA- 2017

For presenting the bid of Kasturi Ram college of Higher Education in the annual fest of IP University- "Anugoonj", Kasturi Ram college of Higher Education organised SPARDHA-2017 in its premises. The auditions were taken for the various art forms like Classical vocal solo, Light Vocal, Debate (English/ HIndi), Poetry Recitation, Mono acting etc. The programme was headed by Ms. Upasana Khurana, Ms Parul Gaba & Dr. Neeru Aggarwal. Students participated with greatest zeal and made it tough for the judges to derive results. All the winners were selected for the Anugoonj Preliminary round.


 A debate Competition was held on 20th Jan 2017 at Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education, Students from different departments (BBA, BCOM,(BA)JMC) participated  for the same .

The event was started with welcome speech of Dr. KB Asthana (Director).The competition was held in order to make students aware about current situation of election in India. Every student presented their view point on the given topic.

As we all know that election happened in different states like UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand , Bihar, Goa. Students presented their views with full energy and enthusiasm and discussed about different parties contesting in election and what all were brought up by party leaders.

Participants give their views either in favor or against the motion.

At the end, Director Sir gave their final verdict in reference to the topic and the session was ended with vote of thanks.


Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education organised 68th Republic day on 25th January, 2017 in their college premises. Sh. Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal, Chairman, KRCHE, Dr. K. B. Asthana, Director, KRCHE, Our Chief Guest, Dr. Rajender Nath Dhaniya, Medical Practitioner, NGO, Navkiran Social Developmental and Cultural Society,  and Mr. Rohtash Singh Yogi, Manager and Editor, Talent of India Magazine hoisted the flag and spoke to the gathering about the sanctity of the occasion. Celebration started with the Speech and a variety of cultural programmes like dance and song mesmerised the audience and few speeches reminded the students of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.


In the present era of competition, there is a surge in the demand of employees with thorough knowledge of soft skills. Communication skills both written and oral, go long way in enhancing the soft skills. Several methods and techniques are used to develop these skills and one such method is Extempore that assists students not only in thinking on their feet but also in voicing their creative ideas with precision. To develop the oral skills, Placement Department of Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education, organized Extempore Activity in the college on 30th January, 2017.  Twenty three students from BBA, B.Com andBA (JMC) participated in Extempore. All the participants have performed very well. Chanchal of Second year was the winner. Convener of Placement cell Dr. Vikrant Agarwal highlighted the importance of extempore to all the students and motivated them to participate in such activities in future also.Great Enthusiasm was seen in students. Students feel rejuvenated after the extempore session.

BAZM- E- SUKHAN- celebration of languages

Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education organized a cultural event ‘BAZM –E- SUKHAN’- celebration of languages on February 23rd, 2017 in the college premises. There were three different categories in which students participated; first category was Ek Kissa (story telling) and the other two were Mere Alfaz (poetry recitation) and Hosalla Afzai (motivational speech). The event started with the speech of Dr. K.B Asthana, Director, KRCHE who motivated all the participants for participating in the cultural and linguistic celebration said that a festival like this brings out the wealth of languages that are spoken in the India. Ms. Seema Sharma and Mr. Baljeet Singh, Assistant Professor, B.Ed Department were the judges for the event. Akashdeep from BJMC- 2nd year won the first prize, Abuzar of BJMC final year won the second prize and Snigdha from BJMC- 2nd year won the third prize in the event. All the Students participated enthusiastically and the audience applauded for their great efforts.

 Women’s Day


International women’s day which is celebrated every year on 8th march all across the world indifferent regions in order to focus the achievements and contributions of the women’s in the society. It is celebrated in our college to provide respect to whole women fraternity, appreciate them and to express love for them. The event was graced by Chief Guest- SHO, Narela, Delhi, honorary Director of KRCHE. The day began with an inspiring speech given by Dr. K.B. Astnana sir, Director of KRCHE, in his speech sir added that it was the time to uphold women’s achievements, recognize challenges and focus greater attention on women’s rights and gender equality to mobilize all people to do their best.

Our chief guest was captivated by his inspiring talks all the way and said that all women’s must develop confidence and self-discipline in order to get success in their professional and personal life.   The students of our college has celebrated this day with a great zeal and enthusiasm and performed in various activities such as poetry, dramatics. The programme ended with vote of thanks to our guests.



Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education organised two day International Film Festival- AARAMBH on 17th and 18th February, 2017 in its premises which provided a platform to the young talents. The main theme of this festival is "Insight of a better world" and sub themes were Human Rights, Social Issues and Digital India. The event was started with inaugural ceremony followed by Saraswati vandana and the key note address by Dr. K.B. Asthana, Director, KRCHE. On the first day Mr. Daljeet Sachdeva, Programming Director, EMPC, IGNOU was the chief guest. In the first session 27 short films were screened which came from the different countries of the world. On the second day Mr. Raghvesh Asthana, CEO, Pragya Vision, was the chief guest and he motivated students to be passionate about their work. In the second, third and fourth session documentaries, ad films and mobile films were screened respectively and got lots of appreciation from judges and students as well. In all 40 films were screened on both the days. All the sessions were entertaining as well as informative and highlighted many social issues which helped in motivating the youth of our country. At the end movies were appreciated and awarded by Certificates and cash prizes. Over all it was a great learning experience for all.


Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, KRCHE organized a “Mock Press Conference” (21st February 2017) with the students of 4th semester (2nd Year).

The Conference was done on Resurrection of Jio Brand, conducted by Chairperson (Mukesh Ambani) and his team played by students themselves.


Press Conference took place in the parts of sessions of acknowledgment, objectives and question & answer session. The key persons of the company Akashdeep (Mukesh Ambani), Rohit Kadyan( Brand Manager), Mayank Vashisht ( JIO Advertising Manager) were present there along with the PR Officers. Welcome Speech by Jio PR team member, Khyati Arora, Introduction of Jio brand, Addressing by Jio PR team member, Snigdha Banerjee, Key Points of Reliance telecommunications and Creation of Jio Brand, Addressing by Jio PR team member, Sanya Chitkara, Key Points of unique features of Jio till latest outcomes & reviews, highlighting the key people and their work by Jio PR team member Akshay kumar, beginning the Q & A Session by Madhav Jha including Mayank vashishth(Marketing manager) & Rohit kadyan (Brand manager), Addressing by Mr. Mukesh Ambani(Akashdeep Singh), further Q & A Session by Secretary  Mr. Ishan Nagpal (Reliance Industries), Conclusion & Vote of Thanks by  Mansi Phartiyal. This mock conference was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Professor, Shashank Sharma and H.O.D, Dr. Gopal Thakur with humble support of KRCHE, Director Dr. K.B Asthana along with a speech.

The Conference started with a brief acknowledgment about Reliance Communication, for the launch of new Jio Sims in all over India in regard of Digital India campaign, which provides wireless network facilities and global broadband services with an innovative strategy, by selling it for free. During the conference, media persons along with the audience played by 1st and 3rd year BJ (MC) students raised their questions regarding the problems of Reliance Jio Sims.


As, the PR team stated that “We want to make our India Globally Literal”.

They believe that Jio networks are much more capable than that of the other competing networks, as more than 10 million subscribers has become a Jio users with a rapid boom in the market.

Reliance Company Chairman and his team tried to resolve the key issues as they are working on the process of making them more improved and better in respect of facilities giving to the all users. From past few months, there were some problems occurred like call dropping , slow data speed etc and JIO PR team gave all the solutions along with future benefits for all the users.

Thus, the Press Conference leads to a successful PR event leaving with a hope for everyone that Jio Sims works at its best years after years.
